Niko Mitsuko’s neueste Ausstellung lädt die Betrachter*innen ein, tief in die intime, innere Welt der Künstlerin einzutauchen — eine Welt aus Stimmungen, Gefühlen und Fantasien, manifestiert in kräftigen Farben und fließenden Formen. Ihre Bilder, geprägt von leuchtendem Grün, durchsetzt mit Sprenkeln von Rot, Gelb und Violett, beschwören menschliche Körper und Gespenster gleichende Erscheinungen herauf — zwischen Abstraktion und Figuration oszillierend, verfolgen sie unsere Blicke.

Es herrscht eine beeindruckende Spannung zwischen erkennbaren Formen und amorphen Gebilden, ein sensibles Gleichgewicht, das den Betrachter zwischen dem Sichtbaren und dem Spürbaren schweben lässt. Vom zarten, beinahe zerbrechlichen Hellgrün bis hin zu dunkleren, ernsteren Blau- und Violetttönen wirkt jede Farbe bewusst gewählt. Die Farben sprechen – mal leise, mal mit eindringlicher Kraft – und fordern uns auf, feine Details wahrzunehmen und die Energie der Gesten der Künstlerin zu spüren. Farbe wird zum Ausdrucksmittel für Gefühl und Stimmung.

Was diesen Bildern ihre Wirkung verleiht, ist ihre kompromisslose Ehrlichkeit. Die Künstlerin versteckt sich nicht hinter ästhetischen Formen: Ihre Pinselstriche sind lebendig, impulsiv, manchmal roh — ein physisches Zeichen nicht nur ihrer Technik, sondern auch ihrer eigenen inneren Unruhe und Kreativität. Das Resultat ist ein Werk, das lebendig, intensiv und zutiefst introspektiv wirkt. Ihr Stil erinnert in seiner Spannung zwischen Abstraktion und Figuration an die Arbeitsweise Gerhard Richters — der ebenfalls Fotografien übermalte und mit Farbe verfremdete, um neue Formen und Unsicherheiten entstehen zu lassen..

Niko Mitsuko’s latest exhibition invites the viewer into the deeply personal inner world of the artist — a world where moods, emotional states, and fantasies manifest themselves in bursts of bold color and form. Her canvases, dominated by lush greens punctuated by splashes of red, yellow and purple, conjure human silhouettes and ghostly presences — oscillating between abstraction and figuration.

There is a striking tension in the artist’s work between recognizable shapes and amorphous forms, a delicate balance that keeps the viewer suspended between what we see and what we sense. From tender, almost delicate light greens to darker, more somber blues, each tone seems chosen with purpose, as if to explore the full emotional range of painting itself. The colors speak — sometimes quietly, sometimes with exclamatory force — inviting us to notice subtle details and to sense the energy of the artist’s gesture. Her style evokes that of Gerhard Richter — who also used to paint over photographs and experiments with abstraction and form.

What gives these paintings their power is their unwavering honesty. Niko Mitsuko doesn’t hide behind stylistic artifice: her brush strokes are alive, impulsive, sometimes raw — a physical record not only of her technique but also of her inner turmoil and creative drive. The result is a body of work that feels alive, intense, and deeply introspective.
